Psycho-social support:
By the end of this course, participants will have been introduced to a series of tools and activities that promote communities to address locally identified problems and to develop culturally grounded solutions that support individual and community agency.
In addition, participants will practice self-care techniques and ways to share these techniques with their community, work environment, family and friends.
Our work is based on the assumption that each community can find their own unique solutions to their problems. Here are some of the results that come when a community works together to solve a problem.
They own the solution. And this empowers them to succeed.
Action leads to more action as community members gain confidence in themselves and their ability to work together.
Those involved can use their own experiences and local knowledge to find solutions that an outside expert may not know about or understand.
When a community works together to solve their problems, they develop the skills to face future challenges head on.
An active community can more easily pivot to give other solutions a try if their initial solution fails.
A community's resilience will overcome conflict, frustrations, anger, or discouragement if a setback occurs.
